Oakville Soccer Club Adds World Class Sport Psychologist to Technical Staff

The Oakville Soccer Club is pleased to announce the addition of sport psychologist Dr. Paul Dennis to the Club’s Technical staff. Dennis will work with the Club’s Age Group Head Coaches on a variety of topics from elite player development to concussion management.

During a 20 year career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dennis served as the Leafs’ player development coach, assisting athletes and coaches in their mental preparedness. Currently a professor lecturing in sport psychology Dennis is also High Performance Coach to the York University Lions Varsity teams.

Dennis’ experience includes; head coach of the Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey League, sports psychologist to Canada’s World Junior Team in 2002-2003, and Canada’s National Sledge Hockey team in 2012-13.  Dennis has also been a featured presenter at the 2010 IIHF/Hockey Canada Summit, advisor to the Canadian Hockey Leagues Champions Program as well as working with Hockey Canada on the issue of concussion prevention.

On the prospect of joining the OSC Technical staff Dr. Dennis said, "I feel privileged to join the Oakville Soccer Club and look forward to working with the technical staff in providing mental skills training to enhance player development".

Dennis has also worked with the NBA's Toronto Raptors and MLS's Toronto FC. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science, and is a published author in sport psychology journals and textbooks.

Regarding hiring Dr. Dennis, OSC’s Executive Director Dave Harris said, “The Oakville Soccer Club is thrilled to add Paul to our Technical staff.  His significant background working with elite coaches and athletes provides us with the ability to further develop our Technical staff, equipping them with the necessary tools to grow and enhance their skill set and allow them to better serve our membership.”

Oakville Soccer Club and Reliance Home Comfort Kick Off Partnership

Oakville Soccer Club is proud to announce its newly formed partnership with Reliance Home Comfort. Reliance, one of Canada’s largest providers of home services such as heating, air conditioning and hot water, has signed on to become the premier sponsor of the 2014 Rep program for the Club.

Reliance has a long and dedicated history of contributing to communities in which its team members live and work. Building partnerships that enhance community life and promote well being, Reliance’s goals align with OSC’s dedication to ensuring everyone in the community has the opportunity to live a healthy, active lifestyle through the sport of soccer.

OSC’s Rep program is an all-inclusive skills training and competitive play program, and is focused on the development of every player. Teams have traveled as far as Italy to showcase their talents, seeking opportunities for scholarships and professional play. The Club’s Rep program has seen players advance to play in the NCAA, MLS, NWSL, and for Canada’s national teams.

Oakville Soccer Club Announces "Friendly Fan" Policy

Oakville Soccer Club Names David Harris Executive Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OAKVILLE, Ontario (February 4, 2013) – Oakville Soccer Club announced that David Harris will take on the role of Executive Director effective February 11, 2013.

Harris, an experienced sports industry professional, most recently worked as the Director of Canadian New Business Development of The Messier Project for Cascade Sports. He served as Director of Operations for the Mississauga IceDogs as well as Director of Marketing and Media Relations for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Outside of his sports experience, Harris also held the roles of Regional Marketing and Relationship Manager for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Director of Marketing for the John Labatt Centre.
