Join Our Team: Shape the Future of OSC!

The Oakville Soccer Club is a thriving not-for-profit organization committed to providing top-quality soccer experiences to our community. We are currently seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to serve on our volunteer Board of Directors, contributing their expertise to help steer our club’s future. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the governance of our organization, ensuring its continued growth and success.

What is a Governance Board?

A Governance Board, in the context of the Oakville Soccer Club, is a volunteer, strategic and policy-setting body responsible for providing overarching guidance and oversight to the organization. Its primary role is to establish and monitor the high-level objectives, policies, and mission alignment of the Club. Importantly, the Governance Board does not engage in the day-to-day operational activities, personnel matters, or individual team-related decisions, including coaching assignments or player placements. Instead, it focuses on ensuring the long-term success, financial sustainability, and ethical conduct of the Club, safeguarding its commitment to its mission and values. The Governance Board’s primary objective is to maintain the Club’s strategic course and foster its overall development.

OSC is looking for passionate professionals from Oakville and nearby to join our Board of Directors. We need dedicated individuals with professional skills, interested in governance, community investment, and making an impact. A love for soccer and connection to the Oakville Soccer Club is welcomed. The key is a commitment to using your expertise to benefit our organization and community. Whether you’re skilled in finance, governance, or other fields, your desire to give back is what counts. We seek professionals who are connected to the Oakville community through residence, employment, or association with the Club, and who have expertise in the following areas:

  • Government Relations & Advocacy, including an understanding of local government structures and policies, and an ability to cultivate strong relationships with local government officials to advocate for the club’s interests

  • Governance, Legal and Compliance, with a strong understanding of legal principles, relevant to non-profit organizations where possible, and knowledge of corporate governance, and compliance matters to ensure our club operates ethically and maintains effective governance structures.

We highly encourage nominations of female candidates to enhance diversity and equity on our Board of Directors, reflecting the community we serve. We invite candidates from all backgrounds, emphasizing diversity and promoting women in leadership.
