The Oakville Soccer Club is pleased to announce the expansion of its Technical Department with the hiring of Gareth Davies as Manager of Grassroots Programs and Mark Worton as Director of Coach Development.
Davies joins the Club from his Advantage Soccer program and brings years of experience in coaching young players at the grassroots level. Davies has a strong history of developing young male and female players in all aspects of soccer as well as creating and implementing Technical Development plans and creating school programs within the community.
Davies will oversee all aspects of the Club’s grassroots programming including the Advanced Development, Open Development, and House League programs.
Mark Worton joins the Club in a full-time capacity after over 20 years of involvement with OSC. Worton has worked with Ontario Soccer as a coaching educator, delivering clinics and facilitating the development of coaches throughout the province. Worton is also currently an OPDL scout and Team Ontario coach, and has experience at the Canadian university level as the current Head Coach of the University of Waterloo Men’s Soccer team.
In making the announcement, OSC Executive Director Dave Harris stated: “We are extremely pleased to bring on two people who are as accomplished as Gareth and Mark. Their expertise in every facet of youth soccer including grassroots programming and coaching development makes them an excellent fit for the Technical Department and OSC as a whole. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the organization”.
