On Saturday, February 17, 2018 the Oakville Soccer Club was please to host its first Match Official Mentor Showcase.
Lead by Matthew Aslett, OSC Youth Match Official & Mentor Facilitator, and Isabella Springett, OSC Mentoring Team Leader, the Showcase sessions included Diversity Management, OSC Mentoring Best Practices, Building a Mentoring Curriculum, and a Think Tank. The Keynote Session was about Research Findings and Next Steps in Ontario Soccer in connection with Bocconi and Queen’s University professors. Guest Instructors included Richard Bowden (OSC's Referee Development Manager) and Vlad Haltigin and Mark Doubrough from the Ontario Soccer Technical Advisory Group.
Over 30 people attended the Showcase including representatives from Ontario Soccer, the Match Official Development Committee, the Technical Advisory Group, Peel Halton Soccer Association, Soccer Referees Association of Halton, and Oakville Soccer Club Mentors.
The Mentor Showcase was created to share insights extracted from the Match Official mentoring community. The goal was to empower and inspire all clubs to engage in mentoring practices to facilitate match official growth and retention.
