OSC's U15 Boys Capture OPDL Cup and Ontario Summer Games Gold!

Over the Holiday Weekend, OSC's U15 Boys competed in the OPDL Cup, which is a single-game knockout format. The tournament took place  at the North London Athletic Fields, in London, Ontario.

The Oakville Wild got off to an unbeleivable start, finishing at the top of their group and completing the round robin stage with a record of 2-0-1 against tough competition in Unionville Milliken, Vaughan and Richmond Hill. This amazing effort booked the team a ticket to the finals against a strong side in North Toronto.

Both teams were aggresive early, creating chances on both ends of the field, but it was Oakville that struck first. Just past the 10 minute mark of the first half, OSC's Adam Plitchtowski battled low for the ball before finding teamate Mauro Lulli in front of the goal. Lulli made it count and buried the chance to put the Wild up 1-0 over the Nitros.

The teams continued to battle in what was a highly contested first half, until the 36th minute when Oakville struck again. Yves-Michel Tcheuyap placed the ball perfectly to make it 2-0 for The Wild. The centreback came up with a fantastic indivudual effort, slicing through the opposition before scoring his goal.

Entering into the second half, Oakville’s defence and midfield worked tirelessly to maintain the lead and finish the game 2-0. The whole team stood strong all tournament, and ended without conceding a single goal.

In winning the match, Oakville captured the U15 OPDL Cup and won the gold medal for the Ontario Summer Games.

David Harris, Executive Director of the Oakville Soccer Club, spoke highly of the team's effort, "OSC is very proud of what the U15 OPDL team accomplished at the Ontario Summer Games. The team performed well against extremely strong competition and were fantastic ambassadors for the Club both on and off the field."

Also speaking positively of the team, Chris Grierson, OSC's Senior Technical Director and acting coach, said "The Boys excelled in all areas of the pitch, and were rewarded for their strong play. The compete level they showed all weekend was unmatched and we couldn't be prouder of them for the result."

Congratulations to OSC's U15 Boys, the Club is proud of you!
