OSC Membership Appoints Three Directors to Board

The 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Oakville Soccer Club was held at Oakville Town Hall on Saturday, December 1st. At the meeting, OSC's membership re-elected one sitting director and elected two new Board Members from a slate of 14 candidates.

Marc Tremblay had completed his first three-year term on the Board and was re-elected to his seat. Marc also served as Treasurer for the Club in 2018. Petra Haneberry and Tanya Pereira were elected by members to two seats on the Board - one of retiring Director and Vice President Rudy Dahdal, and one to a vacant seat.

Outgoing Director Rudy Dahdal had served on the Board for three years, stepping into the Vice President role for the 2018 year. His contribution to the Board of Directors is greatly appreciated by the Club. Dahdal will continue to volunteer with OSC through his children's teams.

The re-elected and new members of the Board bring with them a wealth of experience that will greatly benefit the Club and its membership as OSC looks to develop its 2019-22 Strategic Plan while continuing to provide a positive soccer experience to all members.

“The staff of the Oakville Soccer Club is pleased to welcome our newly-elected Board members Petra Haneberry and Tanya Pereira, as well as Marc Tremblay who returns to the Board for a second term. OSC is extremely proud to boast a volunteer Board of Directors who works so diligently to ensure that the Club is consistently moving in the right direction while always providing a positive soccer experience for all,” says Dave Harris, OSC Executive Director. “We would also like to wish all the best to Rudy Dahdal as he departs following a three-year term. Rudy’s contribution to the Club has been significant and we would like to thank him for his service.”

OAKVILLE, ON - The Oakville Soccer Club is proud to announce that it has been awarded Ontario Soccer's 2019 Gold Club Excellence Award. The award, presented on a two-year cycle, recognizes elite clubs that have met the standards for excellence among member clubs within the province.

Ontario Soccer's Club Excellence Award program was established in 2007 and has grown into an acclaimed, province-wide recognition program for effectively-run community-based soccer clubs, which offer safe, healthy and enjoyable environments for all involved. Since its inception, the Oakville Soccer Club has consistently achieved the gold standard, which is the highest award presented.

In being considered for the Award, community clubs eligible to be a part of the Club Excellence program provide tangible evidence of the required criteria by Ontario Soccer, which is carefully reviewed and evaluated. This criteria includes, but is not limited to technical programs, governance policies and community involvement.

As the largest soccer club in Canada, and the largest amateur sport organization in North America, OSC prides itself on providing quality youth programming at the recreational and competitive levels. The Club works hard to ensure that all members enjoy a positive soccer experience, and is proud to be recognized by Ontario Soccer for its efforts.

In 2019, the soccer landscape in Canada will see the introduction of Canada Soccer's Licensing Program. This national Club License Program is designed to raise the standards of soccer development across the country to improve the overall soccer system and guide soccer organizations toward best principles for organizational development both on and off the field. The Oakville Soccer Club looks forward to applying for this designation from Canada Soccer.

In response to OSC receiving the Gold Club Excellence Award from Ontario Soccer, OSC’s Executive Director Dave Harris said, “It is an honour to once again be the recipient of this prestigious award. It is a credit to the entire organization including the Club's volunteers, Board of Directors and staff who ensure that OSC is meeting the expectations of its membership each and every day. This is an award that shows we are amongst the very best programs in the province. OSC congratulates all other member clubs who have received the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for their collective efforts."
