Oakville Soccer Club Goes Wild

Oakville, ON - The Oakville Soccer Club is excited to unveil its new team name, the Oakville Wild.

During an Oakville-wide 'Name the Team Contest' held in March of 2016, members of the Club and community submitted their suggestions for a team name for the Club. The entries were narrowed down to the four most popular submissions - Oakville Wild, Oakville Coyotes, Oakville United and the Oakville Lions. Club and community members then voted on their favourite team name, and Oakville Wild was the winner.

OSC worked closely with The Laundry, a design firm that had created OSC's crest several years ago. In consultation with staff and members, the Oakville Wild logo was created, and reflects the strong brand of the Oakville Soccer Club by using its crest shape in the face of the lion and integrating the core colours of the Club - blue and red (see attached).

OSC created the Name the Team initiative in order to increase brand recognition and to allow Representative teams to have a common team name that shows the pride and identity of the largest amateur soccer club in North America. The Club's crest will remain OSC's flagship logo, with the Wild logo acting as a secondary brand tool.

With the launch of the Oakville Wild team name and logo, OSC is pleased to present a line of Oakville Wild apparel for players and supporters to wear.

"The Oakville Soccer Club is proud to unveil the Wild name and logo to our members and the community. This exciting brand expansion will provide the Club with a renewed presence and energy as our teams assume the name in competition and give spectators the opportunity to cheer on 'the Wild'," said OSC Executive Director Dave Harris.

Oakville Wild apparel is available at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre (1520 Pine Glen Road, Oakville) as well as Absolute Soccer (4130 Fairview Street, Burlington).

Quantity of both T-shirts and Hoodies is limited, so make sure to come by and pick yours up today!

OSC & MOHA Form Partnership With Two Sport Play Initiative

The Oakville Soccer Club is proud to announce that they have entered into a partnership with the Minor Oaks Hockey Association (MOHA) for a Two Sport Play initiative.

This initiative, between the largest programs of their respective sports in Canada, will see players U4 to U18 who wish to compete in two sports each season given the ability to do so through a two sport pricing structure and specialized scheduling. This will allow parents a new option to see their children participate in multiple sports rather than simply choosing one sport over the other.

This program will begin with OSC’s Summer Outdoor registration season in January of 2017 and continue into MOHA’s registration season beginning in April 2017.

“We are thrilled to announce the Two Sport Play initiative in partnership with the Minor Oaks Hockey Association,” said Dave Harris, OSC’s Executive Director. “The initiative now allows for young athletes in the community to play two sports without the pressure of having to choose. I would like to thank the Board of Directors of MOHA for their enthusiasm and commitment to providing this opportunity for the good of the youth of Oakville.”

“MOHA is pleased to engage in an initiative that supports the philosophies of the Hockey Canada long term player development model and enables young athletes in Oakville to benefit from both sports,” said John Verdon, President of MOHA. “We look forward to working with an association of OSC’s calibre and, together, providing increased recreational opportunities for both of our memberships.”

Details of the partnership will be released in the near future. The Oakville Soccer Club and the Minor Oaks Hockey Association look forward to building a lasting partnership that will see Oakville athletes develop their physical literacy and social skills though participation in both soccer and hockey.
