OSC's U9 ADP Girls Escort #CanWNT Onto the Pitch

On June 10, 2018 the Oakville Soccer Club's U9 ADP Girls had the honour of walking the players of the Canada and Germany Women's National Teams onto the pitch for their match at Tim Horton's Field.

After a rehearsal in the morning and a pizza lunch, the girls met their idols in the tunnel and had the chance to chat briefly with them about their names, ages and positions. Then, in front of 22,000 fans, the girls escorted their idols onto the pitch. After the opening ceremonies, the girls enjoyed the game and cheered the loudest of all when Sinclair and Fleming scored the two Canada goals.

This was an incredible experience that these young ladies will never forget. Thank you to Canada Soccer for this unbelievable opportunity and to team officials Mary and Peter for making the arrangements!

OSC Hosts Canada Soccer's Women's National Team

Last week, the Oakville Soccer Club had the privilege of hosting the Canada Women's National Soccer Team as they prepared for their International Friendly against Germany on June 10, 2018. Two training sessions took place at OSC on the Pine Glen fields.

During these sessions, OSC's Boys U15 OPDL team and several players from the Boys U15 GHSL team had the honour of training with the Women's National team. The boys received three training sessions by Canada Soccer staff in advance of working with and playing against the CanWNT. The boys were given specific tasks and roles and responsibilities to help prepare the National team for their game during the camp.

On Friday, June 8, OSC's boys met up with the National Team at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, where the Canada vs. Germany match would take place on the 10th. The boys trained with coaches and participated in warm up activities before squaring off against the CanWNT in the full field training session. The players were very grateful to be a part of this event and represented the Club and talent at OSC very well.

OSC Executive Director Dave Harris said of the experience, “The Oakville Soccer Club was proud to have provided hosting and assistance for the Canadian Women’s National Team’s training session last week. In hosting the CanWNT, the Oakville Soccer Club showed the wonderful partnership and working relationship between the Club and Canada Soccer. We look forward to the opportunity to host another national team opportunity in Oakville.”

The Oakville Soccer Club would like to thank the players, coaches and the staff of Canada Soccer and the Canada Women's National Team for providing an experience to our players that they'll never forget.

Your efforts spark positive changes to those you serve while making the Club a better place for all. You make not only our Club, but our community a better place to live by working in programs that assist everyone from children to seniors in all aspects of the game.

During this National Volunteer Week, I would like to salute you, the valued OSC volunteer, for all your efforts to support the Club and one another while making a significant difference in the lives of others.
