2017 Youth Summer Outdoor Soccer

HOUSE LEAGUE PROGRAMS (U4 - U18)


Active Start – Ages U4 & U5

The Summer Outdoor U4 & U5 Active Start Program begins in mid-May and runs once a week for 12 weeks. U4/U5 teams will work with their volunteer coach and a designated OSC Facilitator, participating in fun games and activities designed to improve their physical literacy. All players participate in an end-of-season Festival Day with fun games and activities provided by OSC and corporate partners. Each player will receive a medal/trophy to celebrate the season. 2017 Active Start Program Improvements:

  • U4-U5 Active Start & U6 FUNdamentals will begin at 6:00 p.m. midweek instead of 5:30 p.m.
  • Midweek and weekend games will take place at a centralized venue (Queen Elizabeth Park) every week.
  • U4-U5 Active Start Program will see an emphasis on parent/guardian involvement to a comfortable environment where players are motivated to engage and learn new skills.
  • U4-U5 Active Start Program Curriculum has been improved to follow Long Term Player Development.
  • U4-U5 Active Start sessions will be facilitated by the volunteer coach and will be overseen by an OSC Facilitator.

FUNdamentals – Ages U6

The Summer Outdoor U6 program begins in mid-May and runs once a week for 12 weeks. U6 teams will work with their volunteer coach and will continue to hone their physical literacy skills while playing soccer games and activities with the support of a Game Leader. All players participate in an end-of-season Festival Day with fun games and activities provided by OSC and corporate partners. Each player will receive a medal/trophy to celebrate the season. FUNdamentals U7-U8

The Summer Outdoor U7 – U8 Youth House League programs begin in mid-May and runs for 14 weeks. Players will participate in one scheduled game per week. Game Leaders will facilitate the game under the OSA Game Leader guidelines. Teams will work with a volunteer coach on individual development and become familiar with the rules of the game. All teams participate in an end-of-season Festival Day in which they play their last game, receive their medal/trophy and celebrate the season with fun games and activities provided by OSC and corporate partners.

Learn to Train U9-U12

The Summer Outdoor U9-U12 Youth House League programs begin in mid-May and runs for 14 weeks. Players will participate in one scheduled game per week. Match Officials are introduced at the U9 age group and will follow OSA small sided game rules. Teams work with a volunteer coach on individual development and become familiar with the rules of the game. All teams will participate in an end-of-season Festival Day in which they play their last game, receive their medal/trophy and celebrate the season with fun games and activities provided by OSC and corporate partners.

U7 - U12 House League Program Improvements

  • OSC has developed Coach Education Workshops that are age and stage appropriate. Sessions are open to all coaches involved in the Club. Sessions are run by the Senior Technical Director and Coach Development & Youth Programs Manager. Both are also Ontario Soccer Association Coach Instructors. All workshops are in line with Canadian Soccer Association Long Term Player Development.
  • OSC has established an accredited Mentorship program for match officials. Youth match officials will be mentored and supported on a regular basis by certified officials. The aim is to improve and develop the skill set of our match officials and create a positive soccer experience for all members.

Soccer for Life (U13 - U18)

The Summer Outdoor U13 – U18 Youth House League program begins in mid-may and runs for 14 weeks. Teams participate in one scheduled, refereed game per week. At this level participants are encouraged to develop their existing skills and build new skills while enjoying the social and team building aspect of the game. All teams will participate in the INARIA Cup Tournament where each team will be guaranteed three games and have the chance to advance to the championship game in their age group! The 2017 INARIA Cup Tournament will be held on July 8 & July 9, 2017.

NEW FOR 2017 - Please note that U13 – U18 Volunteer Coaches have been mandated by the Ontario Soccer Association to complete the Respect in Sport Certificate. As part of OSC's commitment to the development of its volunteer coaches, the Oakville Soccer Club will reimburse the head coach of each team once the certificate has been achieved and submitted to OSC. If you have already completed the course for another sport organization, please submit a copy of your certificate to Nick Vetro, the Youth House League & Special Programs Coordinator. U13 - U18 House League Program Improvements

  • The INARIA Cup for U13-U18 teams will now take place over one weekend (July 8 & 9, 2017). The Tournament will see both boys and girls play the same weekend at two separate venues in Oakville with the Finals being played at Pine Glen. All teams will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.

HOUSE LEAGUE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (U7 - U12)

FUNdamentals U7-U8, Learn to Train U9-U12

OSC’s House League Development Program provides players and their teams with one scheduled game and training session per week with their volunteer coach. Games and training sessions are conducted in line with Long Term Player Development. A 14-week curriculum will be provided to all coaches along with the support of an HLDP Coordinator. The HLDP Coordinator will also have one Staff Coach on each field supporting the volunteer coaches. HLDP teams will play within their own league, and will not crossover with House League teams. All teams will participate in an end-of-season Festival where each player will receive a medal/trophy and celebrate the season with a final game provided by OSC and corporate partners.

2017 House League Development Program Improvements

  • The HLDP volunteer coach will coach the game and will facilitate the weekly training session.
  • All HLDP coaches will be selected by OSC and participate in Coach Education Workshops .
  • A 14-week Curriculum will be developed and provided to all coaches. This will be age and stage appropriate. This curriculum will be available on OSC's website for players and parents to view.
  • An OSC Staff Coach will be assigned to two HLDP volunteer coaches to assist with the training sessions
  • An HLDP Coordinator will be onsite at the training session to assist and guide coaches through the curriculum and address any questions members may have regarding the program.

Player Registration

Returning players can register online by clicking here, or in person at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre.

New players with the Oakville Soccer Club must register in person at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre and provide proof of age.

Refunds

The refund deadline for all age groups for the 2017 Youth Summer Outdoor season is Saturday, April 29, 2017. No refund requests will be accepted after this date. All refunds submitted before April 29, 2017 will be subject to a $35.00 administrative fee.
Refunds must be requested in person at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre.

Summer Outdoor Player Equipment

All players registered in the Youth Outdoor House League program will receive one jersey, one pair of shorts and one pair of socks which must be worn at every game.

All players registered in the Youth Outdoor House League Development Program will receive one game jersey (to be worn during games), one training top (to be worn during practice), one pair of shorts and one pair of socks.

Players are to provide their own shoes and shin pads. Soccer cleats are suggested but not mandatory; appropriate running shoes are acceptable. Please note that is it mandatory that shin pads are worn during all games and practices.

Coach & Convenor Incentive

Sign up to be a volunteer coach or convenor for the 2017 Youth Summer Outdoor season and receive a $50 credit to be used towards a future OSC program registration! Credits will be issued upon completion of the Youth Outdoor season.

Play Soccer with Friends!

OSC strives to ensure balanced teams for the enjoyment of all players involved. As such, OSC is unable to guarantee requests will be fulfilled, but every effort will be made to accommodate all requests.

Please submit friend requests to playerrequests@oakvillesoccer.ca by Friday, April 14, 2017. Player requests will not be accommodated after this date. Please ensure that the players are registered in the same age group and play on the same day. Please include the first and last name of both players and ensure that the names are spelled correctly. 

Youth House League Photo Days

Photo days will take place on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, 2017. All U4 - U14 players will be provided with a team photo and an individual photo included in their registration. U15 - U18 teams are able to schedule photo times by request.

Two Sport Play Initiative

Attention all female U4 - U12 Oakville Hornets hockey players, U4 - U12 Oakville Lady Hawks Lacrosse players, and all U4 - U18 MOHA players! Present your Hornets, LadyHawks or MOHA receipt from last season and receive a 10% discount on your Youth Summer Outdoor Registration! Receipt must be presented at time of registration in person at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre. Each receipt can only be used for one registration.

Out-of-Town Residency Fee

Please be advised that all registrants that reside outside of the town of Oakville will be required to pay an out-of-town residency fee of $10.00
