AdvancedDevelopmentProgram

The Advanced Development Program (ADP) offered by Oakville Soccer Club is a specialized soccer program designed for players between the ages of 8 and 12. The program aims to provide a higher level of training and development opportunities for young athletes who display advanced skills and a strong commitment to the sport.

Through ADP, players receive instruction from experienced and certified coaches who focus on enhancing technical skills, tactical understanding, physical fitness, and mental resilience. The program follows a structured curriculum that progressively challenges players to improve their abilities and reach their full potential.

Participants in ADP benefit from a competitive and supportive environment where they can grow both individually and as part of a team. The program includes regular training sessions, skill clinics, and competitive matches against other clubs to test and refine the players’ skills.

Overall, the Advanced Development Program at Oakville Soccer Club aims to develop young soccer talents and prepare them for higher levels of competition in the future.

Program Breakdown

Give your player the opportunity to thrive in soccer by enrolling them in OSC’s Advanced Development Program. With dedicated coaches and tailored training, they’ll develop skills, deepen their understanding of the game, and gain the confidence needed to excel on and off the field.

Program Goals for Each Player

Skill Development

ADP focuses on enhancing fundamental soccer skills, such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. By starting at a young age, participants will build a solid foundation for future growth as a soccer player.

Game Understanding

ADP emphasizes not only individual skills but also helps young players develop a deeper understanding of the game. They learn basic tactics, positioning, and team play, enabling them to make effective decisions on the field and adapt to different game situations.

Confidence and Motivation

Through the program, players will experience success and improvement in their soccer abilities. Witnessing their own progress boosts confidence and fosters a positive attitude towards the game, which has a significant impact on their overall development and enjoyment of soccer.

Long-Term Player Development

This program follows the principles of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD), focusing on age-appropriate training and overall physical development. By enrolling in the program, each player will receive the necessary guidance and support to progress effectively through the various stages of player development.

Enjoyment and Engagement

OSC believes in creating a positive and enjoyable soccer experience for all of the Club’s players. Age-appropriate training sessions and a supportive environment ensure that every player stays engaged and motivated. When children genuinely enjoy their soccer experience, they are more likely to continue participating in the sport, leading to long-term involvement and potential success.

Program Structure

As an annual program with more time on the ball, ADP also comes with a required increased level of commitment. Players will practice twice per week, with a game on the weekend (age dependent). View age specific program outlines below which further explain the benefits and components for each group.

2024 ADP ASSESMENT / ID SESSIONS

What is the Advanced Development Program?

The Advanced Development Program is an alternative program stream that prepares players ages U8 – U12 (2017 – 2013) for the competitive pathway. This program facilitates skill development, game understanding, confidence building, long-term player development, talent identification, and overall enjoyment of the sport. It sets the stage for future growth and increases the likelihood of continued involvement in soccer.

Players in ADP will train twice a week during weekdays, with the potential enrollment of an indoor competitive league on weekends (age dependent).

OSC will focus its resources on skill development by creating a developmental environment for every player that matches his/her individual playing needs and abilities. As players mature, they need to be given the freedom to move up or down the competitive spectrum, depending on what environment best meets their developmental stage.

How are players identified for the program?

Assessments, or ID sessions, are instrumental for the program and allow new players to participate in various mock activities and games led by Program Coaches. These assessments allow for coaches to determine if there is a correct fit for a player in the Advanced Development Program. Assessment or ID sessions are conducted in hour long group sessions, alongside the current ADP roster.

The upcoming assessments/ID sessions for ADP will be taking place between the dates of Wednesday, Aug 7–  Thursday, Aug 22. Please note that the week of August 26th may also be used, tentative on registration numbers.

If I register for the Open House, should I still sign up for Indoor House League?

Yes! We encourage all ADP Open House participants to register for Fall and Winter House League, as spaces are limited for the Indoor Seasons. By signing up early, your spot is secured for the upcoming soccer seasons. All players that are identified for the program will have their Fall and/or Winter House League payment transferred over as a credit towards their ADP fees.
