The Oakville Soccer Club’s (OSC’s) Ontario Premier League first teams picked up important results this past weekend, highlighted by a dramatic late victory for the men’s side that moved them to the top of the standings.
The OSC Men’s first team secured all 3 points with a 3-2 win over Scrosoppi FC on Sunday at Bronte Athletic Park, in a matchup between the top two OPL1 clubs in the standings.
Scrosoppi, who entered the match in first place, opened the scoring in the 14th minute through captain Jacob Carlos. Oakville responded well, creating several dangerous chances and seeing a goal from Justin Cabral called back just before halftime. The hosts found their breakthrough immediately after the restart when Ronaldo Hylton scored his first goal of the season in the 47th minute to level the match at 1-1. In quick succession just 6 minutes later, Niko Eskit produced a moment of individual magic to give Oakville a 2-1 lead, scoring his fourth goal of the 2026 campaign.
Scrosoppi wasn’t done there, however, as Carlos struck again in the 70th minute to equalize for Scrosoppi, paving way for a thrilling, back and forth finish as neither side were willing to settle for a draw.
In the last of 7 added minutes, the decisive moment came as Peter Wator scored his third of the campaign in the 97th minute, securing a 3-2 victory and all three points for Oakville. Wator’s heroics helped to push OSC past Scrosoppi and into first place in the league.
On the Women’s side, OSC’s first team were on the road on Saturday, taking a point back home after a 1-1 draw to Unionville-Milliken SC in Markham.
Coming off a 2-1 victory over Tecumseh United the previous weekend, Oakville got the perfect start early, taking the lead in the eighth minute through captain Abbie Russell – her 3rd goal of the campaign.
Unionville, however, clawed back to respond right before halftime, with Olivia Allen converting from the penalty spot in the 39th minute. Despite opportunities at both ends, neither side could find a winner in a hard-fought match, as the teams shared the points after 90 minutes.
Both of Oakville’s first teams will be back in action on the road this weekend. The men’s side will head down to St. Catharines for a mouthwatering matchup with St. Catharines Roma on Saturday, June 13th, while the women will have an exciting clash of their own away to Burlington SC the following day at 1PM in a Battle of Halton matchup!

It was established in 2014 (Formerly League1 Ontario), and continues to provide players with a crucial development platform, bridging the gap between high-level youth competition and professional leagues.
The league consists of three divisions with a promotion and relegation system between them. This structure allows clubs to ascend or descend based on their performance to ensure competitive balance and opportunities for growth.
Ontario Premier League is FIFA sanctioned through the Ontario Soccer Association and Canadian Soccer Association, and plays a vital role in Canada’s soccer development pathway.
